Joe OpenStack is not involved here, just install kubernetes on baremetal server. Compass supports both CentOS and Ubuntu in other scenarios but this scenario for ARM is relatively new and only support centos7 for now. Another thing is some servers may require dedicated OS, there is a yaml file to specify which exact OS will be built into compass tar ball then used during deploy process.
