All,
I'm losing my marbles and running out of time on a project.
Could really use a pointer...
I have a Linksys WRT54GL which I have installed Kamikaze 8.09 on.
It is a version 1.1 unit w/ 4 meg flash and 16 meg of ram.
I have modded the unit I'm currently working with to add a pin header
on the serial port for console (which is working flawlessly w/ my handy
dandy 3.3v TTL -> 5v RS2/32 level shifter!), and I've also tried to do
the mmc/sd card modification as well.
I've been reading for the last day or so..a bunch of old posts talking
about the mmc.o driver used in white russian and how it was modified
to be much better, work with >4gb cards, etc.
Then I saw that it was broken out into a few different packages in kamakaze,
which supposedly handle sd cards >2 gb in size.
I have checked and double checked that I have (hopefully) soldered to the
right signals/traces/etc. for this and feel fairly certain that I've done
that much
right.
However, nothing ever shows up in dmesg to indicate to me that a driver has
detected a card at all. I have installed the following packages that I
"think"
at least "some of which" are needed:
kmod-mmc - 2.6.25.17-brcm47xx-1 -
kmod-mmc-over-gpio - 2.6.25.17-brcm47xx-2 -
kmod-mmc-spi - 2.6.25.17-brcm47xx-1 -
luci-app-mmc_over_gpio - 0.8.6-1 -
The following kernel modules are loaded after boot:
Module Size Used by
gpiommc 4288 0
spi_gpio 2496 1 gpiommc
mmc_spi 7360 0
mmc_block 8144 0
mmc_core 32832 2 mmc_spi,mmc_block
crc7 736 1 mmc_spi
crc_itu_t 992 1 mmc_spi
spi_bitbang 3360 1 spi_gpio
Things I'm not sure about:
1) What driver "should" I be using at this point?
2) Doing things this way normally indicates bit banged com. over spi.
With a >2gb card, can that still work or does it have to be sdhc mode?
If that were the case, how would the driver ever work w/ >2 gb cards as
I've read that it will?
3) Have I got the right stuff installed and if so, am I missing a config
file somewhere or something?
Most of the stuff I see in the wiki relates more to the old mmc.o driver
and it's usage.
4) Could I still somehow have messed up my wiring?
5) Any reason that I shouldn't be able to directly solder to the contact
plates on a micro sd card
adapter then stick the 4 gb micro sd card in it?
Anything else I've not thought of?
Help?! (and thanks!!!!)
