I think most regular developers do not really use 4M devices, as debugging them becomes more and more annoying (my opinion). Support is still ongoing, however release images will not be built for most (if not all), as a full build with LuCI will not fit into the flash (even with 4K sector size). > If no users speak up probably it's better to remove all the support > code altogether to avoid wasting maintainers' time on it? The code is not really an issue, as there's not much code dedicated for 4M devices. It's mostly their device-tree, which is maintainable compared to the previous ar71xx boardfiles. As many people still use these 4M devices (see, for example, the forum) - i would refrain from dropping support altogether, but you will need additional effort in form of building the images yourself (any maybe optimizing the kernel for the specific board building the image for). That's at least my personal view on the current situation.
