Looks like your fix has worked pretty ok. At least for some time.

In the past two days there has been some intermittent sluggishness, and today I got again an 504 Gateway Time-out error. So, apparently something still needs further fixing.

I wonder if a scheduled service restart would help, in case there is some memory leak or something like that, which causes the resource consumption to grow gradually.
