Thank you for the patch, it was committed in r38010.

The watchdog driver should be converted to use watchdog_device, see:
Documentation/watchdog/convert_drivers_to_kernel_api.txt
Documentation/watchdog/watchdog-kernel-api.txt

I removed the changed to au1500 and did not remove mtx-1_wdt.c this
should be done in a later step.

Could you try to send this watchdog driver upstream for mainline Linux
inclusion? In that process you can also try to convert all users of
mtx-1_wdt.c to this gpio driver and remove mtx-1_wdt.c.
