I don't want to drag this out longer than necessary. You used the phrase 'hack'. What do you think is the preferred solution? I see macdsl is the var on ar7. I failed to find info on non-openwrt lantiq systems. As you point out current openwrt lantiq goes with a poor choice. I am on a custom board and can adjust to suit.
