Adding a version symbol the way it was proposed in the patch does not help, it increases our maintenance burden and implies that changing the kernel version is as easy as flipping some number somewhere - which definitely is not the case. > I agree that just throwing in more options is bad, but so is > obscuring parts of the build, reserved to an elite developer caste. Switching the kernel version also requires changing (or even creating in the first place) the patches suitable for the chosen version, that is a thing which is not reflected in a simple Kconfig string option. If the ability to locate, rebase and add patches needed for a Kernel change defines an "elite developer caste" then I am fine with it. ~ Jow -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk+MW4wACgkQdputYINPTPNQPgCeMuoDBJnC1OTBIA/K+Jf9Deac pa4AnjiLsIrNnNS8AZJEieFx+JWJmxsY =Y1Kk -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- _______________________________________________ openwrt-devel mailing list openwrt-devel@lists.openwrt.org https://lists.openwrt.org/mailman/listinfo/openwrt-devel
