Hmm, you are right, just checked the datasheet. PL2303 can work also
with 5V or 3.3V RS232, depending on the wiring. My cable does only
"normal", 12V rs232, so I need an extra level shifter.
So if you are sure yours is wired for 3.3V, you should be safe.
