That's what I was afraid of. Tho there is some CPU usage with legacy driver 
using 2.4 kernel, it is sooo much worse with rt2x00. Softirqs take 50% and 
kernel other 50% (almost, I rounded up a bit).

Won't be worth submitting my work if no one would use it due bad wifi. So I'll 
backport some changes to my backfire-2.4 build and maybe see what sort of 
effort it will take to compile the SoftAP legacy driver to 2.6. 

Although it came in GPL tarball, I've not seen any softap drivers elsewhere so 
I'll have to verify license first ..

I think this is inherent to the design of the driver and possibly of the 
hardware. I have seen high CPU usages on RDC (i486 clone) as well.
