Hi.
As I follow your argumentation the documentation says in the network
chapter 1.2.1 "The network configuration in Kamikaze is stored in
/etc/config/network and
is divided into interface configurations. Each interface configuration
either refers directly to an ethernet/wifi interface (eth0, wl0, ..) or to
a bridge containing
multiple interfaces." So the documentation needs an update?
So my question is: if I want to use non-bridged wlan I should leave the
ifname option in /etc/config/wireless empty?

Hi.
You should not put wireless ifnames into /etc/config/network anyway.
That's what option network in the wireless config is for.
In many config scenarios the wireless ifname is just not known at the
time the interfaces are brought up during boot. For example in the case
of ap + sta vaps setups the network scripts might reorder the vaps to
suit driver needs or in wds setups the ifnames could be totally
randomized.
The proper way is to not reference that ifnames at all but using the
option network in the wireless config instead. This way the interfaces
are brought up when the driver is ready, and not before.

JoW
