Indeed, I found it functional, even with WPA2.  Just not performing well
on throughput.

Indeed.  On the other hand, from the last time I checked on the price of
atheros cards, I could buy a cheap WAP for less and without putting
OpenWRT on it just use it's stock firmware as nothing more than a
wifi/wired bridge.  That's what I'm doing currently, although admittedly
I have Tomato on it.

Heh.  It works better than that 802.11b broadcom that I had in the
laptop.  Although I don't use the laptop very much so who knows what I'm
not seeing.
