In the absence of any details, I can only guess what error you might be getting --- if its due to pkcs11helper not supporting unpadded signatures, my patch to fix that has been merged a while ago. But no releases have been made since then. You will have to build pkcs11helper from its git repo and use it with OpenVPN.
