Yes, the instructions on that web page are very detailed and I would need some time to read, understand and process them. Thank you for keeping good documentation on OpenVPN for posterity. I hope that similar efforts be made to guide us on how to compile OpenVPN for Microsoft Windows OS, including how to compile OpenVPN-GUI for more than 50 config files. > I prefer to build the official packages them myself. I respect your decision and am sorry if my original statements in my earlier post have caused some misunderstanding. And do not worry: us learning how to build OpenVPN from source just the way you do it will not lead to a proliferation of fake OpenVPN builds, all purporting to be the official release by Samuli. My intention is to learn how to build OpenVPN for Debian/Ubuntu from source and who is better placed to show me the method except you. I have a question for you: What exactly are Debian control files that you had mentioned in one of your earlier posts? You do not provide a definition of the term in your guide to the packaging/build system on GitHub. > If you setup your own sbuild_wrapper instance, I suggest basing it on Debian > 8 or a very recent Ubuntu version (15.10). This helps avoid issues with > missing (pre-)build dependencies on the build rig > itself. Would you like to add the above advice to your guide on GitHub? Best regards.
