Hi, Just a bit more on this. I initiated an OpenVPN connection – it connects, says all is happy, except the output from the management interface is,
Ø STATE:1445605521,CONNECTED,ERROR,,10.138.15.10 And the TAP IP is garbage (169.x.x.x). So I reset the TAP adapter (disable), Ø FATAL:TUN/TAP I/O operation aborted, exiting OpenVPN exits when TAP is disabled (should it?). In any case, after the enable, then I restarted OpenVPN. Then reconnect to the server, and I get, Ø STATE:1445605710,CONNECTED,SUCCESS,,10.138.15.10 And my IP address is as expected (192.168.x.x). So there are some stability related issues we may need to correct. In particular, if TAP is disabled, should OpenVPN exit? Perhaps it should. But also, after a connection the TAP adapter shouldn’t be “hung”, right? I’m still thinking we want to use something like NSSM to keep OpenVPN alive, and then control connections over the management interface. But it seems that the underlying structure (OpenVPN + TAP) may not be stable / reliable … ☹. So it is exiting, just need more details if possible. And to clarify below … DHCP is for the IP address from my server, inside the subnet (so I’m on the same subnet as my network). Make sense? The external interface is fixed (IP and port). You mean using the bridge mode? We never use bridging, so no idea how well that works..
