The 0.9.8 branch has had an End Of Life notification, you really should switch to an other branch like 1.0.1 or 1.0.2. I'm also not sure why it's that hard to migrate it should be API compatible as far as I know. No new features will be introduced in the branches. So that means that TLS 1.2 will not be added to the 0.9.8 or 1.0.0 branch.
