Open SSL

Hello,   I am very new to SSL and I am very confused.   I have several areas on my site that I wish to be SSL protected, however I am not sure how to go about doing that.   I use a Hosting Service on Linux running Apache and mysql.  I originally attempted to purchase an SSL cert from ev1server.net but when I chose Apache Mod SSL it sent me to OpenSSL.  Well Im not paying for it if I don’t have too!   Anyway, I am not sure how to go about accomplishing my goals with SSL.   I need to get a certificate, get it installed, and get it setup for my particular needs.   That’s about as much as I understand about it.   Any thoughts, suggestions, and information would be greatly appreciated!   Regards, David
