I don't know phyton, but looking at the patch the following question comes to mind:
This first looks for VisualStudio/8.0, and then for VisualStudio/9.0 then for VCExpress/8.0 and finally for VCExpress/9.0. Is it possible that a different order of searching would make more sense in some cases?
