@bsdnix Since we have your attention now, can you open up a command line terminal and run the following commands on your OpenSolaris machine: dladm show-phys prtdiag -v cat /etc/release ifconfig -a modinfo pfexec scanpci prtconf -v and copy and paste the output from those commands in this thread? I suspect that maybe you are running in to this realtek rge driver bug (bug id # 6807184 ) see links below: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6881257 http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=116005&tstart=0 http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6807184 Or maybe you are trying to update over a wireless network and you're running in to a bug with one of the newer wireless driver bugs where the connection drops sporadically under certain circumstances. Some of these newer Solaris x86 NIC and wireless drivers are less than a year old and could use some debugging work. Maybe you could help with that work by running the commands I posted so that everyone here (and Google's search engine cache) knows what kind of hardware you are running OpenSolaris on. Another possibility is a duplex mismatch between your NIC and the switch it's connected to due to a failure in auto-negotiation (this happens more often than you would think). There are other people, such as myself, who have been using IPS for over a year since it first came out in OpenSolaris 2008.05 and have had no problems with it (other than the fact that it's a little slower than apt-get in Nexenta is) so it's obvious that there is something seriously wrong with your particular OpenSolaris installation, and we need more information from you to determine what the cause of the problem is. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ opensolaris-discuss mailing list opensolaris-discuss@opensolaris.org
