That is unexpected for me, but it explains why things have happened the way they've happened. Simply put, there has been a public perception for years that "OpenSolaris" is not just a mechanical arm of Sun Microsystems. (You and I know the truth is close to Sun Microsystems owning and operating and staffing and managing and leading everything about "OpenSolaris", but a lot of others had real hope for it being an independent entity.) You kind of crushed those hopes with the truth, and now those people are angry. Myself and others (who know more than I) have posted about how this political collision should have happened. Basically either you do some of that stuff, or you don't. If you don't, the status quo remains: Sun Microsystems can do anything it wants here because it owns everything and everyone to do with OpenSolaris.
