When you put it that way, how can one refuse? Maybe it seems corny to say, but every other Linux distribution I've seen typically splits their KDE and GNOME users. I think that your point has merit in that all desktop environments can benefit from the cross-pollination. It would be nice to show others that at least in "OpenSolaris land", the jihad will remain silent and "synergy" (oh my <insert deity here>, I just used a marketing term :)) is expected.
