For those wondering, like me ....  "draisine"= handcars, track cars, 
putt-putts,etc (to use American language).  Little maintenance vehicles 
(most often but not necessarily 4 wheels). In the past strictly for 
railway service, though lately  passengers and private users have  been 
using them.
