Nice!

An example I can imagine would be a TCP/IP server implemented
in Tcl under ModelSim, where the bitbanging is talking to a JTAG
interface to a CPU.

The CPU would be under NDA of course :-)

Performance would be *excruciateingly* slow, so the inefficient protocol
would not matter, probably ease of implementation would be the big
one.
