I understand that OpenOCD has a lot of contributors. From that
I will have to say the outcome of the discussion was expected.
So at that time, I actually contributed a bit to provide a solution for
Windows users to use libusb-win32 and libftdi under Windows.
Freddie's binary helps a lot of Windows users in the end.

Of course. As you mentioned, you and Spencer Oliver have been the
de-facto maintainers of OpenOCD and all the users here should all
thank you for the hard work done to ensure that OpenOCD stays
in an healthy state.
