I can't reproduce the Error with my Debian system - current git works there.
Could that be a ftdi d2xx library issue somehow..?

My latest tries (on windows) had no usable results from gdb's "bt full"
- that would indicate a stack problem to me. This was with debugging
flag "-d3 " passed to openocd.exe.

Its last messages are:
