I understand your point of view, but my heart is split in two... 1) by enforcing the GPL you surely are incentivating further developpement of libftdi. It would even be faster if so much energy spent on rant could be directed to libftdi study :) 2) by not distributing with ftdxx, interest in OpenOCD will be lower and quite a few interesting contributors (with funds) will not be atracted here :( But one thing is cristal clear: the rules were set from the begining...
