Something that would make a huge difference for me would be to never
write updates if the values have always been 0. I want to collect
switch port interface data without having to manually track which ports
are connected so I have 'snmpStorageFlag=all'. There are a lot of
unused interface both on switches and hosts so this makes for a lot of
wasted effort updating meaningless and predictable data - and this
probably isn't an uncommon scenario. If there were some clever way to
deduce the 'always zero' status from the directory/inode properties, the
whole read/write cycle could be skipped until a non-zero value is collected.
