Sebastian is correct, the logs may help. Seems like you have used the correct settings. Do you have another email client that you can test your gmail setting with to ensure that all works with your GMAIL account ? http://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13287 I do not use TLS so I am not sure if this works or not. I could suggest that you use the version that you can check out from the below command, but I doubt if this would resolve your issue. The below steps have helped me.
