up from remote via IPMI,
that boots into OI just perfextly.
How do you use IPMI? I've only used it with systems that have video
emulator hardware installed, with a dedicated ethernet port.

Yes, it is a server with IPMI dedicated ethernet port, (capable of html5
console redirection)
