I've always found the initial setup dialogue painful. If you have a local server that you can use to just configure the initial setup against, you can then go to Edit -> Account Settings and try adding your google account there.

P.S. I just use fetchmail to get stuff from google, so I can't tell you how to configure tb for that, sorry...

Maybe you can edit configuration?
See attachment (it works for me on OI TB).

I can not get to the screen that you posted because I can't get past the "Mail Account Setup" screen, which does show the parameters that your screen-shot shows.  The screen hangs or reports a "Incoming server already exists." error when I click on "Done".

Without getting past "Mail Account Setup", the mail account will not be listed as an account on the left side of Thunderbird and so it is not possible to select it later to edit the configuration.
