FWIW I had to switch from a 2 GB Atom system for internet access to a Z400 with 8 GB of DRAM because I could not run Firefox with just 2 GB. Welcome to code bloat.

The memory upgrade allowed me to do a package upgrade from a Hipster BE of 2017-06-10 to yesterday's version of 2019-03-01 . The upgrade ran normally, with no error messages. The reboot seemed normal. It booted with the loader instead of GRUB, but I'm used to that. However, there was no login GUI, just the text login. How do I fix that problem? Using the console login, I was able to activate the previous BE and boot back into it. This worked, except that GRUB had disappeared. It still booted with the loader, and ran the old BE. Now I have another problem. I had an entry in the GRUB menu to boot the Windows FDKISK partion, but this too has disappeared. How do I boot the Windows partition now? -- -Gary Mills- -refurb- -Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada- _______________________________________________ openindiana-discuss mailing list openindiana-discuss@openindiana.org https://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss -----Inline Attachment Follows----- _______________________________________________ openindiana-discuss mailing list openindiana-discuss@openindiana.org https://openindiana.org/mailman/listinfo/openindiana-discuss
