It takes ~35s to load on a 2.4Ghz quad code cpu:) Xpdf & Envice loads this instantly though. $ rpm -q okular poppler okular-4.11.5-1.fc19.x86_64 poppler-0.22.1-5.fc19.x86_64 I wouldn't expect the background to influence the load speed.
