I say bug, too!
This is not only about displaying half of the page (which doesn't make sense
anyway - IMHO), but also about that the view doesn't follow your mouse click at
all.
For instance:
Depending on your zoom level / page layout, it is possible that you click in
the lower half of a thumbnail, but the placed view doesn't show you this area
at all - which is very confusing.
I think the the placed view, must follow the mouse click as close as possible.
This is also what users are known to (expect) from other apps.
