Manhattan, N.Y. City - Thursday, October 3rd -

A Yellow-throated Warbler, first noted by late-day of Oct. 1st was still
present at Corlears Hook Park near the East River in Manhattans lower east side
area, on Thursday Oct. 3rd. Thanks to M. Durand, L. Beausoleil and others for
reports. This park is south and very slightly west of the base of the Manhattan
side of the Wiilamsburg bridge, and is next to the F.D.R. Drive on the East
River, where there are paths and esplanades etc, which extend along that
river-estuary in two directions. Also, the Manhattan Pier 42 is immediately
next to Corlears Hook - a very old place name.

A brightly plumaged Golden-winged Warbler was photographed at Central Parks
north end on Thursday Oct. 3rd, and that made for at least 22 species of
migratory American Warblers in Central Park on Thursday, 10-3. A White-eyed
Vireo was continuing as well in Central Parks n. end, as was the recent and
current Blue-winged Teal, along with at least 5 remaining Green-winged Teal,
the teals being in the Pool at that parks nw sector. In the Ramble of Central
Park were Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Veery and loads of additional migrant species
seen by scores and scores of observers thru all of Thursday.
....
Elsewhere in N.Y. County on Thursday, a Red-headed Woodpecker was noted at
Randalls Island, where Yellow-crowned Night-Heron also could still be found,
while 4 flyby Forsters Terns are the most recent for that location, and there
were many more migrant species seen there, as for all parts of the county.
Governors Island in N.Y. County again had many migrants on Thursday, including
American Pipit, and ongoing Bobolinks, among many other species.

For a strange and wondrous sighting even if a likely escapee, a brightly
colored Ruddy breasted Seedeater was on Roosevelt Island, which is also within
N.Y. County, because what more or less did you expect? ...It was photographed
there on Thursday. Link to photo, thanks to J. Marinov with the report to eBird
and the linked photo in the Macaulay archive - please READ the text by that
reporter-photographer as you gaze at the photo.
