Today's full day of birding (the first for me in quite awhile) started with much promise, but came up a bit short.
While being part of a large group of "unhappy campers" looking for the Cassin's Kingbird seen yesterday at Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, I did get to see single Cooper's & Red-tailed Hawks, as well as ~ 15 E.Bluebirds, short of the 39-40 seen by some. I then tried for the C.Ground Dove at W.End 2, Jones Beach, and saw it, thanks to the Queens County Bird Club folks out on a scheduled field trip. Heading toward home, I routed myself through Dune Rd., Westhampton Beach in hope of finding the White-winged Dove found by Dave Klauber & Bobby Rosetti this morning. Once again, the target bird remained elusive, but getting down to Dune Rd., enabled me to find FOS Pine Siskin (4-5) and A.Bittern.
