Very exciting and thanks for sharing with the list. Note however there have been relatively recent Tufted Puffin records from Sweden (June 1994), Greenland (summer 2009) and England (Sept 2009). The continued reduction of seaice in the arctic may make it increasingly likely for alcids and other seabirds that nest in the North Pacific including Bering Sea to enter the North Atlantic.
Additionally and more to the point, Audubon sketched a Tufted Puffin that that he purchased from a fisherman gunner who shot it at the mouth of the Kennebec River, in Maine. while standing on some floating ice, in the winter of 1831-32. I don't know whether this was considered sufficient to place the species on the Maine Checklist. Updates on the current bird will be of interest.
