A group of birders found the Red-necked Stint at Cupsogue about 7:40 AM this morning on the mud flats north of the parking lot. The bird was originally in the company of Semipalmated Sandpipers but later was seen feeding by itself. The bird was still present at about 9:45AM. A few photos of the bird can be seen at my flickr site. As the bird fed, the lack of webbing between the toes was clearly visible (see photo on flickr site) - a useful field mark to differentiate between Semi Sandpiper at close range. Congrats to Andrew Baksh and John Gluth on a great find.
