I took a walk this afternoon (2:40-4:15) at Bayard Cutting Arboretum (Great River, Suffolk Co.). Given the chilly temperatures and stiff easterly wind I didn't expect to find too many birds. So I was pleasantly surprised to find a LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH and few other migrants, including BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER (1) and RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET (2). A very fresh plumaged Swamp Sparrow was also seen, feeding in close proximity to the waterthrush (40.733405, -73.164952).
