I had a great 4 hours of afternoon birding at Croton Point Park. After
doing a full survey of all areas of the park and Croton Train Station, I saw 57
species and lots of individuals (unexpected for the middle of march).
Highlights included ~100 Tree Swallows, a Peregrine Falcon, a Kestrel,
American Pipits, a Meadowlark, a Screech Owl, 2 Fox Sparrows, 4 Wilson's
Snipes,
and ~9 Displaying American Woodcock in the late evening. The marsh side of
the landfill has hosted a lot of bird activity recently. A full checklist
is on eBird on westchester county alerts page. The weather could also not
have been any better!
Happy Spring Migration!!
