This is a summary of the Hudson-Mohawk Birdline reports for the week 
ending  19 October 2011.  Report your sightings in New York's

Seventy-five species were reported this week.  The most-reported species 
include Yellow-rumped Warbler (9 reports), Palm Warbler (5, including 
~30 at Saratoga Battlefield on 10/13) and Ruby-crowned Kinglet (5).


The best birds were:

CACKLING GOOSE: Brunswick 10/18, 10/19 (2)

YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO: Albany 10/16.

SWAINSON'S THRUSH: Saratoga 10/16 (2).

AMERICAN PIPIT: Papscanee  10/16, 10/17.

ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER: Papscanee  10/13; Saratoga 10/16.

Brant: New Baltimore 10/19 (~30).

American Wigeon: Stanton Pond 10/13 (6).

Northern Pintail: Stanton Pond 10/13.

Horned Grebe: Lake George 10/18 (2).

Bald Eagle: Rexford 10/13.

Northern Harrier: Saratoga Battlefield 10/13.

American Kestrel: Papscanee  10/17.

Pectoral Sandpiper: Papscanee  10/13 (5), 10/16 (8).

Barred Owl: Meadowdale 10/14.

Blue-headed Vireo: Woodlawn Preserve 10/15; Saratoga 10/16.

Carolina Wren: Kinderhook 10/13; Albany 10/16.

Winter Wren: Papscanee S 10/13; East Greenbush 10/17.

Golden-crowned Kinglet: Saratoga Battlefield 10/13 (12); Woodlawn 
Preserve 10/15.

Hermit Thrush: Saratoga Battlefield 10/13 (10-15); Austerlitz 10/13 (3).

Black-throated Blue Warbler: Saratoga Battlefield 10/13.

Savannah Sparrow: Papscanee  10/16 (~20).

Lincoln's Sparrow: Saratoga Battlefield 10/13 (2).

White-crowned Sparrow: Saratoga Battlefield 10/13.

Purple Finch: Brunswick 10/18.
