24 September 2011 New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY Time: 1:15PM Observers: Bradley Klein and NYBG Bird Watching in NYC Class
On my first day leading a three weekend birding class for the New York Botanical Garden, we had excellent views of a first year Connecticut Warbler, walking fearlessly in the grass alongside the 'Rock Garden Path' - due East of the Haupt Conservatory, 2/3 of the way to the Rock Garden. We had time for long views of the foraging warbler and even time for sketching and note-taking, with the bird only a few meters away.
I won't include a list of the other species we saw since we were concentrating on fundamentals of ID and binocular handling rather than accumulating species. Suffice it to say that I now have a student with less than 20 species on her life list, including CT Warbler!
