David Suggs raises an excellent question and I look forward to a definitive
answer. If you haven't already seen them, the photos of the Whitby bird
taken by 'Harv' are extraordinary crisp and well lit. Check 'em out!

One issue would be whether there are any features that are sufficiently
distinct taking in to account differences in lighting etc. The plumage of
the Ontario bird is in good shape without obvious damage. However, I did
notice a 'pimple' on the bare facial skin just in front of the right (but
not left) eye - it is a young bird ("teenager") after all. Maybe this will
be of use? Some irregular dark marks along the ridges of the bill might also
be useful. I've no idea how close any of the observers (or photographers)
got to the Tonawanda bird, so some of the subtle details might be difficult
to compare.

It goes with out saying that White Ibis is a NYSARC review bird from
anywhere in New York state, and the Committee would appreciate
reports/photographs for inclusion in the permanent record.
