Subject: [HMBirds] Red Phalarope on Hudson at Fort Miller
To: HMBirds <[email protected]>

The bird was observed and photographed by local vet and amateur bird photographer, Gordie Ellmers. It was found on the Hudson at the Fort Miller Hydro station off Harris Road this afternoon. There is a fishing access and you can walk down and stand on part of the dam and look upriver. This is where he saw the bird. It would fly upriver, feed as it floated down to the dam, fly back upriver, etc. At times he couldn't take photos because it was right underneath him.

Harris Road is off West River Road on the west side of the Hudson River, north of Schuylerville. If travelling north, turn left (east) on Harris Rd. off of West River Rd, follow the road around the left-hand 90 degree bend, and just before the next left hand bend, there is a parkinglot on your right for the hydro station and fishing access. Park in the lot and follow the sign for the fishing access and look upriver from on top of the concrete dam.

Can someone forward this post to the NY Birds list? Thanks!

Good luck to any who try for this bird!
