Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC)

8/07: 13 BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS were seen from East Road at
Knox-Marcellus Marsh.
8/08: 2 SANDHILL CRANES were seen at May’s Point Pool. A LEAST BITTERN was
heard at Knox-Marcellus Marsh.
Onondaga County
------------
8/04: A SNOWY OWL was seen and photographed on Oak Brook Road in Radison
east of Baldwinsville. It was seen again on 8/06 at Smoky Bones Restaurant a
few miles east of Radison on Rt. 31.
Madison County
------------
8/04: At the Lakeport Road Turf Farm north of Chittenango the following
shorebirds were found. 1 LEAST SANDPIPER, 4 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, many KILLDEER,
2 SEMI-PALMATED PLOVERS, and 1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER. The nest day a second
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER joined the group.
Oswego County
------------
On 8/08 an early female BUFFLEHEAD was spotted from the bluff at Derby.
Extralimital
------------
The last positive report of the Montgomery County MISSISSIPPI KITE was
