Happy New Year Folks!

My apologies but I have to start with some sad news. After almost 8 years of
being the home for our and countless other meetups, MadLab is taking a break
from hosting community events. I believe the impact that MadLab has had on the
local tech community is often under-appreciated, and they will be sorely
missed. Many thanks to Asa, Rachael and the rest of the MadLab team that have
made us feel so at home all these years 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

With the bad news out of the way, on to the good. Firstly we have a new venue
for North West Ruby Group: the shiny new On the Beach offices at Aeroworks
<https://goo.gl/maps/jcn5Vgeewyt>, a short walk behind Manchester Piccadilly
Station 🎉 The offices are pretty swish, with a lovely auditorium for talks, and
a separate area for pre and post-talk chat.

Secondly, we’re starting the year with a talk double header. Visiting us from
Berlin will be Lucas and Fanny Krebs-Pinto. Lucas will be telling us all about
BOSH, an open source system partly written in Ruby for managing highly
distributed systems, and Fanny will be giving a talk on the relationship
between dev and product and ways we can work together, be happy and productive
and deliver value to the business.

All the details and more can be found on our website
<https://nwrug.org/events/january-2019-talk-double-header> and also on Meetup
<https://www.meetup.com/North-West-Ruby-User-Group/events/vxpqzpyzcbwb/>.

Thanks to Eve and James from Sheffield Ruby User Group <https://shrug.org/> for
organising and coordinating our visiting speakers this month.

Cheers,

Tekin
