I recently have installed ntop5 and running the svn Version:

Last Changed Rev: 5641
Last Changed Date: 2012-08-14 15:53:41 +0200 (Tue, 14 Aug 2012)

I did encounter a few problems and do not know how to solve it:

1. The file /var/ntop/hostSerials.db is growing beyond all limits and is filling up the disk partition which finally will lead to ntop no longer working. As an intermediate workaround I had to stop ntop, remove the file and start ntop again. Already after 10 minutes running the file has a size of 10MB. While the file command reports that the file is GNU dbm 1.x or ndbm database I am unable to dump/inspect it.

2. The network load statistics (Summary->Network Load) Shows only occasionally data. It looks like if the traffic gets above 1000 M then rrd tries to treat that number as too big and gets a NaN. But that is only a suspicion. I conclude that from the fact that the info about top talkers is correct even where there is no info in the Network Load.

3. In several places I do have no information or no filled RRDs such as

Host Map: Region View Warning No hosts have been detected by ntop yet

All the plots except rrd throughput are empty in Historical data for NetFlow-device.2 Report (rrdPlugin?action=list&key=interfaces/NetFlow-device.2&title=interface NetFlow-device.2)

In Plugins->Netflow->Statistics all RRDs are empty while the tabular data indicate that there is a lot of traffic on the interfaces.

In case it helps I can send the contents of the ntop Configuration page.
