What did you name the file?

my-test.tex

I found the reason: My ConTeXt was too old (version 2025.08.21). After
an update it works well.

Thanks for your efforts!

Peter (and any other AUCTeX users),

does indenting of macros work for you? For example, if I have

\def\sldsdl[#1]
{
I'm #1.
stuff
}
% following text

and then type tab (bound to `indent-for-tab-command') at the beginning of
each line, starting with the open brace and continuing on, I get

\def\sldsdl[#1]
            {
                lklk
                lkd
            }
            % following text

which is just wrong on a number of levels.

I'd appreciate hearing from others to know if they see the same thing.

Apart from that, do you really want two spaces?

\def\sldsdl[#1]
{
    I'm #1.
    stuff
}

\showmakeup[space]

test \sldsdl[human] am I

Hans
