Not sure if Ctrl-A works in a textarea but you'd need to do Ctrl-A 
Ctrl_C to copy everything. I still have problems trying to edit in a 
textarea and in particular anything pasted still goes in a line above 
the cursor.

Like Peter, if I have a lot to type I use an Edit window and then save 
it into the textarea.
