I'm not exactly sure what the cause of problem is, but text selection with text fields is certainly known to be a bit broken. The other ports should be able to reproduce it though. The RISC OS version uses the same form text input handling as the other front ends. It's all done be the core code. The textarea code in riscos/ is something completely different.
