We have been building our own boxes for some time, but last week we
finished a series of tests with IBM Netfinity 3000 and 3500 boxes.
They absolutely fly! Since then, we have installed 4 new servers to
different clients, and all are reporting a full 9.5MB/sec read/write
from their G3s and G4s. This is GREAT!

Yes, your Hostname+domain are not correctly specified. I have had
this several times, and a quick trip to Linuxconf->Basic Host
Information, and filling out all the fields correctly fixed the issue.
You can see the error in your log file above. I have had this, and
fixed it.
