It also did sent the mail to the associated ML (https://mail.openjdk.java.net/pipermail/net-dev/2022-January/017386.html). You still have no write access to the JBS issue, because you need "authorship" for that. But the bar is pretty low (I believe three sponsored changes or so). Sorry for the complexity.
